CHILD MODELS & MODELING
The world of child modeling is fraught with
danger. There are many companies that will take your
money and run.
The usual trick is to get you to pay a
registration fee of anything from £25 to several
undred pounds, just to be on the register.
Unfortunately, in many cases, you'll never
get anything for your money. There certainly won't be
any work.
Other agencies insist that you have a
professional photographic portfolio, which of course,
you will need.
However, some insist that you use their
photographer, but the costs for this can be
extortionate and there is no guarantee that your
child wil get any work.
Most reputable agencies will give you
objective advice and will be able to put you in touch
with the parents of other child models for whom they
have secured work.
Talking with these people is your best bet.
They will give you an objective view of how effective
the agency is.
Be prepared for some rejections. Good
agencies reject modelling applications because they
know what their clients are looking for.
Unfortunately, not every child will fit their
"perfect profile" and a good agent will tell you
this.
A modelling agency is not like a job agency.
Agents in this market can and do charge fees. You
just need to be certain that the agency is right for
you and your child.
Ask to look at their client portfolio. But
don't stop there. Also ask to see evidence of the
work that was carried out for that client- as anyone
can say they have done work for a large
client!
The list below is of child modelliong agents
that we found during a recent search on the Internet.
There are many more of course. We have not spoken
with any of the firms listed and make no
representation about whether they are good, bad or
indifferent. Take care!
